Трансформация подхода CША к определению границы Западного полушария в Северной Атлантике накануне размещения вооруженных сил в Исландии в 1941 г.

Аннотация

В статье рассматриваются особенности произошедшего в 1930-е гг. изменения подхода администрации США к определению границ Западного полушария в Северной Атлантике, а также факторы, побудившие президента Ф. Д. Рузвельта принять решение о включении Исландии в зону действия «‎доктрины Монро». На основе анализа дискуссий, в которой приняли участие видные политические деятели, географы и аналитики, сделан вывод о том, что постепенный отход Вашингтона от лежащего в основе «доктрины Монро» принципа бинарного структурирования глобального пространства происходил на протяжении всего межвоенного периода. Ввиду стремительной утраты актуальности этого принципа в условиях нарастающей конфликтности в Атлантике в 1930-е гг. процесс получил новый импульс и приобрёл ярко выраженное внешнеполитическое измерение. При этом академическое сообщество так и не смогло найти убедительное обоснование принятому на высшем уровне политически мотивированному варианту определения границ полушарий.
