Abstract

A review of the All-Russian scientific and practical Conference “Composite states: experience and prospects for development”, held in Penza state University on May 29 - 30, 2019 with financial support from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (project No. 19-011-20109). It was organized by the Penza State University, journals “State and Law” of the Russian Academy of Sciences, “Legal policy and legal life”, the Penza Regional Branch of the Russian Association of Political Science and the Penza Regional Branch of the Association for European Studies.

The relevance of this scientific event is associated with the diversity of forms of the state in the past and present, the dynamics of state development in the context of globalization.

The purpose of the conference is to summarize the existing knowledge about the forms of state development in relation to different historical eras and countries.

Participants discussed the debatable problems of classifying various states, the specifics of their development in pre-industrial societies, as well as in connection with the processes of modernization and post-modernization. Special attention was paid to the problems of Russian federalism and interstate integration associations.
