Abstract

This paper focuses on the South African politician Patricia de Lille, who is currently the Minister of Public Works in the 2019 of cabinet of Cyril Ramaphosa. Author attempts to analyze her background and reasons that motivated her to be inside of the political sphere in South Africa.

This article briefly covers one of the South African population groups - coloured people. What is their position in the post- apartheid South Africa and whether they have a place in the “rainbow” nation?

The author tries to take into account how an origin of Patricia de Lille as a coloured woman, influences her political career. Having  changed  three  South  African  parties  -  Pan-African  Congress,  Independent  Democrats,  Democratic  Alliance  de  Lille continues to achieve her political goals. Some voters, especially in her home province - Western Cape, where she served as Mayor of Cape Town from 2011 to 2018, continue to believe in her reputation.

Her active work under the GOOD party created on December 2, 2018 will be reviewed here. Campaign, relations with their allies, the party’s performance in its first general elections in South Africa were examined. The GOOD party, represented by its leader Patricia de Lille, due to many favourable factors, was able to stand the test and get places in the parliament.

In the framework of this article, author seeks to objectively show some inconsistency of de Lille’s actions as a politician and to identify factors that followed her style and political leadership methods. For more than 45 years of political experience, de Lille’s career was not without ups and downs, but despite all, she did not give up and moved forward.
