Abstract

The choice of the research topic is due to recent events in the world associated with forced widespread restrictions on social contacts within both small groups and entire societies. This situation has led to even more actualization of new communication channels associated with modern technologies. According to the author, the process of transformation catalyzed, in particular, commemorative practices, under the influence of these trends . The article reflects the attempt to define this phenomenon, to highlight a clear definition based on existing theoretical studies (P. Nora, P. Ricoeur, A. Megill, E. Hobsbaum, etc.). In addition, the author analyzes contemporary sociological works devoted to the influence of the Internet and social networks on the formation and support of the collective memory about the past. Thus, the work assesses the perspective for the further interdisciplinary research of commemorative practices in the digital environment.
